Potential Members & Practitioners

What does it mean that a practitioner is "values-aligned" with MTLHS?

It means they have gone through an application process and have agreed to uphold our Foundations & Roots—a set of values and agreements that center intersectionality, systemic healing, and collective liberation. These practitioners are committed to practices like cultural dignity, ongoing self-accountability, and creating non-violent, equitable therapeutic relationships.

What is the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2 membership?

Tier 1 ($20/month+tx) is for practitioners who want to be part of our network and be listed in our directory, with access to member-only seasonal and annual events.

Tier 2 ($50/month+tx) is a deeper commitment for those seeking structured community and professional support. It includes everything in Tier 1, plus Monthly Peer Supervision, Monthly Social Connection Nights ("Ventral Vagal Night"), and Seasonal Skillshares. Regular renters (a 6-hour block for 4+ months) automatically receive Tier 2 membership.

Is membership capped? Why?

Yes, Tier 2 membership is intentionally capped at 17 practitioners. This allows us to protect the quality and depth of connection, facilitate meaningful peer supervision, and maintain the intimate, community-centered model that is core to our mission.

How does my application get reviewed?

Your application is reviewed with care and intention by our founder, Parneet, and a small circle of trusted Foundational Advisory Members. We holistically assess for values-alignment, professional background, and commitment to our core principles like intersectionality and collective liberation. The goal is to ensure a mutual fit that strengthens our community ecosystem.

What is the membership application process?

The process involves:

  1. Booking a call with MTLHS founder Parneet or attending an upcoming open house
  2. Applying to become a member
  3. Undergoing an application review. If accepted, you are invited to complete official onboarding.

I'm not a psychotherapist. Can I still become a member?

Absolutely. Our community is multidisciplinary and includes somatic practitioners, art and drama therapists, doulas, spiritual healers, facilitators, educators, and more. If your work is rooted in care and collective liberation, there is space for you here.

As a white/ cisgender/ able-bodied practitioner, is this space for me?

Yes, This space welcomes all beings who align with our values, principles and agreements — those committed to the work of collective liberation and systemic healing. We center the experiences and leadership of those who navigate intersectional marginalization, however all of us on various intersections are needed in this movement towards healing systemic trauma.

Is the space a good fit for me if I am part of a marginalized community?

Absolutely. The very reason MTL Healing Space exists is to center and serve communities that have been marginalized and overlooked by traditional wellness models—including queer, trans, racialized, immigrant, disabled, and neurodivergent folks.

I’ve experienced burnout and isolation in my practice. How can MTL Healing Space help?

You are not alone. This is one of the core reasons MTL Healing Space exists. Our model is specifically designed to be an antidote to isolation. Through our Tier 2 membership, you gain access to structured, facilitated connections like Monthly Peer Supervision, Ventral Vagal Nights to engage in playful, embodied, co-regulating social practices and Skillshares to shine and learn from other values-aligned practitioners.

My practice is niche/ emerging/ spiritual. Will I fit in?

We celebrate and are structured for diversity of practice. Our community includes psychotherapists, somatic facilitators, doulas, art therapists, and spiritual healers. The common thread is not the modality, but the underlying commitment to collective liberation and systemic healing.

What does "Peer Supervision" look like here? Is it clinical?

Our Peer Supervision Circles are facilitated spaces for reflection and skill-sharing, but they are not exclusively clinical. We take a holistic view of peer supervision and do our best to group together practitioners with similar trainings and backgrounds during peer supervision.

I'm worried about the financial commitment. Are there options?

We are committed to accessibility and offer a lower-cost Tier 1 membership for those who want network visibility with a monthly commitment. Furthermore, if the cost of space rental or Tier 2 Membership is a barrier, we invite you to email us to discuss accessibility considerations.

Space Rental

Do I need to be a member to rent a space?

No, you do not need to be a member to book our space. We welcome non-member renters for sessions, workshops, and events. However, members receive significantly discounted rental rates and do not undergo an additional screening process to book.

Why is there a "4 month and 1x6-hour block minimum"?

The 4-month duration builds the trust needed for meaningful peer support and collaboration. The 6-hour block supports stability for the space and reduces administration labour by offering two daily 6-hour blocks: Morning/Afternoon (8:30am–2:30pm) and Afternoon/Evening (3pm–9pm).

How do I check room availability and book a space?

You can view our public calendar on the Calendar & Events page to see available time slots. To officially request a booking, please email us at hello@mtlhealing.space or complete the Space Rental Application Form.

Can I host a one-time event or workshop?

Yes. Our Large Group Room is perfect for one-time or recurring events, workshops, and gatherings. Organizations and collectives whose work aligns with our values are also encouraged to inquire about hosting retreats or programming.

Is the space physically accessible?

Yes. Our space is wheelchair and stroller accessible. We are deeply committed to accessibility as a core principle and are looking to further make our space accessible. For a detailed overview of our accessibility features, you can download our Accessibility Overview document.

What is the process for renting the Large Group Room for a workshop?

  1. Submit our Space Rental Application Form, detailing your event.
  2. We review it for alignment with our values and space capacity
  3. We’ll connect to discuss details, confirm availability, and finalize the booking.

You can view room availability on our public calendar before applying.

Can I rent the space for a community event that is not therapy-related?

Yes. We welcome events that align with our mission of systemic healing and collective care, which can take many forms—from community circles and rituals to skillshares and activist debriefs. If your gathering is rooted in creating safety, connection, and liberation, we encourage you to inquire.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract to rent a room?

Not necessarily. For the Zoom and In-Person rooms, we offer terms of 4, 6, or 12 months to provide stability and discounted rates for our regular practitioners. For the Large Group Room, we accommodate one-time and recurring hourly bookings, with a minimum of 2 hours per month.

Community Members

How can I support MTL Healing Space if I'm not a practitioner?

We welcome community support! You can donate to help us furnish the space and fund accessibility features. You can also volunteer your time through our Punya Program.

Can you recommend a therapist for me?

MTL Healing Space does not make individual therapist recommendations and cannot vet all of the therapists and  practitioners at MTLHS. Each practitioner provides their specialties, approaches, and contact information and we encourage you to review these profiles and reach out directly to inquire about their services.

How do you ensure the space remains safe and values-aligned?

Safety is a practice, not a guarantee. We proactively cultivate safety through our shared Foundations & Roots—a living document of our Values, Principles, and Agreements that all members, space renters and attendees are asked to uphold. We focus on building a culture of integrity, accountability and humble conflict resolution, not perfection.

I see a therapist I'm interested in. How do I contact them?

MTL Healing Space does not manage individual client bookings. The practitioner directory will provide the direct contact information for each therapist or healer (e.g., their website, email, or phone number). You can contact them directly to inquire about their services, availability, and to see if they are a good fit for you.

Do you offer any low-cost or free events or workshops?

Yes. Check out our calendar for PWYC, by-donation and sliding scale services offered by members and space users of MTL Healing Space. Many of our practitioners individually offer sliding scale spots or occasionally host low-cost group therapy sessions.

How do I know if a practitioner is qualified?

All member profiles contain specific credentials (e.g., RSW, RP, MFT) and qualifications are listed a listed in their directory profiles. We encourage you to verify their credentials and ask them about their experience and approach during an initial consultation.

Is MTL Healing Space a non-profit or collective?

MTL Healing Space is currently operating as a community-rooted social enterprise. While we are not a registered non-profit, our operations and pricing model are structured for sustainability and accessibility, not for maximizing profit. All revenue is reinvested into maintaining the space, funding accessibility features, space programming and supporting member benefits including the membership directory, peer supervision and seasonal skillshares.
